If you've been to the beach after some stormy weather and found yourself drawing on your detective skills to identify some of the cool stuff you've found, then the Perth Beachcombers Education Kit might just prove to be an essential toolkit in your investigations!
The Perth Beachcombers Education Kit aims to raise the level of understanding of local coastal ecosystems and to encourage a greater appreciation and care of these fragile systems.
Developed for a broad audience, information and activities in the kit can be adapted to suit the level of the participant. The kit includes a field guide, carry bag, poster and a CD containing information sheets and activities. The CD covers beachcombing basics, currents, coastal and marine life, coastal processes and coastal use and impacts. Sections can be completed individually, depending on the user's area of interest, or as an integrated program with links to the Western Australian curriculum.

The Perth Beachcombers Education Kit has been made possible by funding from Coastwest and the Western Australian Planning Commission, and the Department of Fisheries. The project would not have been possible without our community partners - Friends of Marmion Marine Park, Padbury SHS and many supporters, such as the Western Australian Museum.
The kit was distributed to all metropolitan schools and to various community groups in November 2009.
