School Holiday Activities

Science of Slime

Slime (another name for mucus) can be found throughout the world's oceans. Marine creatures produce mucus for many different purposes including feeding, protection, locomotion and reproduction. One of mucus's most obvious functions is the slime coating on fish, which covers their scales and skin, protecting them from bacterial infections.

Discover the Science of Slime with the Scitech Roadshow team who will be visiting the NMDC during the July school holidays. Explore the chemistry of different types of slime and make your own slime to take away with you!

Science of Slime
Dates: Thursday 9 July & Tuesday 14 July
Time: 10:30am to 11:30am
