The Department of Fisheries’ community and schools education programs provide a variety of educational opportunities connecting regional Western Australians to the aquatic environment. These programs were awarded the 2010 Western Australian Science Award in the Science Extension Initiative category.

Educational opportunities can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the region and include schools, local events and festivals.
